I bought this review book in January 2011 but did not start reading until I finished reading some lecture notes. When I started reading this book then I realised how good it is. It is an excellent review book with all the High yield stuff in bold. It is presented for good review of a chunk of HY stuff in a very short time. I recommend it to be used at least 4 weeks prior to the exams but you can also die with it months before your exams. The only setback of the book to me is its lack of graphical illustrations and some pathological slides but that is not a big deal.It has all the HY stuff and will recommend it to anyone preparing for the exam.Every sentence of the book should be taken as a HY fact. Imagine if you read USMLE Secrets and took notes. Now imagine if you supplemented those notes from information found in USMLE World and other Q Banks. That's what this book is which is highly valuable. This is the most comprehensive Step 2 Book available. HOWEVER, there are no pictures, no Index and it is not a good book for those beginning their Step 2 prep. This book is ideal for people who have read USMLE Step 2 Secrets multiple times and need that "edge" of extra information and details to score in the 90's. I would give this book 5 stars if it was more organized (an Index for starters), and included more management Step 3 questions. It's really not a Step 3 book but more of a perfect Step 2 Book. That being said this is the most comprehensive and detailed when compared to all of the Step 2 books including the Master the Board series and USMLE Step 2 Secrets.
Although there really aren't any good books out there for Step 2 and 3 this is definitely not the best of the worst. A lot of information is missing and management decisions are not outlined. Its basically bare minimum material for each disease no specifics diagnostics and treatment. So i guess its good if you are studying for Step a week before... there are no graphs, tables, or figures to organize it better and summarize. the questions at the end of each chapter are not clinical vignettes, more so just the pertinent positives. there are grammatical mistakes galore so it just shows you how poorly it was written. there are a lot of abbreviations that sometimes you don't know what they are (they aren't medical abbrevs) so you don't know sometimes what they are talking about. I wouldn't recommend it.
I found this book not better than Fisher's MASTER THE BOARD.
I was very disappointed when I saw some Kaplan's notes phrases word by word.
I think that it was wasting of money
This book is a must for reviewing for step 2ck and step 3! I definitely recommend it as part of your study for those tests. It is concise and very well written.
Seelectively written, and precise to the point,the Tables were well organized. The flope in this text was the errows made, which took the time from studies to correct, otherwise I will recommend this book without reservations.
a really good book for ck, especially Q & A part. I am reading kaplan notes & mtb. I need an extra book like this to improve my skill in anwering questions. Overall, it is Ok to me.
I think this book is detailed. It is more detailed and complex than First Aid. Helps re-emphasize what is important to remember.
